hello friends, today i am happy to present you this
photo of the Hairy Woodpecker shot this morning

from All About Birds website :

http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Hairy_woodpecker/id

« The larger of two look alikes, the Hairy Woodpecker
is a small but powerful bird that forages along trunks
and main branches of large trees. It wields a much
longer bill than the Downy Woodpecker's almost
thornlike bill. Hairy Woodpeckers have a somewhat
soldierly look, with their erect, straight-backed posture
on tree trunks and their cleanly striped heads. Look for
them at backyard suet or sunflower feeders, and listen
for them whinnying from woodlots, parks, and forests. »

Merci

Asbed

Hi MF Asbed,

Impressively clear and very dynamic capture of a hairy woodpecker in-flight, I love the contrast colours which he had. A shot to be proud of.

Hi Asbed

A delicate in flight capture of this little hairy woodpecker. Birds in flight are one part of photography I've never managed to conquer. Seems my reaction is too slow to compensate for their ability to change direction and to stay with the trajectory of their flight. You seem to have anticipated well in advance where to catch this guy and you managed to get it with fairly good detail. Personally I would have liked to see the woodpecker a bit closer, but I understand and appreciate the difficulty you probably had in this regard. A 300mm zoom only reaches that far plus a hairy woodpecker is not really known to be one of the larger birds around (chuckle).

Good effort and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hello Asbed,
You made a fine well-timed capture of a Hairy Woodpecker that is coming to the top phase of its undulating flight, that many woodpecker species have.
I like the wing position that shows t he pattern with excellent sharpness and lighting against a fine blue sky.
Thanks and greetings from a dull dark and clouded Sweden!
Ivan

hello Asbed
exceptional scene and pose, I like a lot the colours and the details explicit, if it had tele lens they would be one perfect photo!
keep photographing! TFS

Hi Asbed,
very excellen presentation. Well composed with great blue sky as backgroud. The branches give a lively graphical view.
I like the glow and the texture of the wings.
A well presented in atractive scene and very full of impact.

Regards,
Foozi

Really like the flight pose here Asbed..
Head-up & wings forward...The sky's the limit! :)
Well done & have a good week my friend.

Hi Asbed,

Perfect sky, for a perfect bird in climb. I like much the layout you've given to the elements, defying the rules of composition and achieving a result that brings us movement and depth.

It seems that this winter we will wait very surprises for you part Asbed friend!

Hello Asbed,
A Very good picture of the beautiful Hairy Woodpecker in flight. Excellent sharpness and very fine details.
TFS & Regards,
Ferran.

Bonjour Asbed,

La prise de vue en mouvement permet de voir la puissance du pic chevelu en vol. Les branches cadrent bien l'oiseau. Le beau ciel bleu envoie une lumière qui embellie les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.
