Assassin Bug is common name for members of the family Reduviidae, one of the largest and most varied groups belonging to the order Hemiptera (suborder Heteroptera). Assassin bugs are generally brownish to black, but some with orange color; medium-sized to large insects, with heads that are elongate and narrow compared to the thorax. The raptorial front legs are used for grasping prey. Most assassin bugs are found on foliage.

The majority of species are predaceous on other insects, but a few are bloodsucking and will bite humans if carelessly handled. The bite of some species is painless, while the bite of others is extremely painful, resulting from a venom produced by the bug,

These bugs get their name from their hunting style. You see they tend to remain concealed and still until they ambush any unfortunate prey going for a nice stroll. In one quick and accurate strike they will inject a deadly poison into their prey. This is the gross part folks! This poison will cause the tissues to break down so the assassin bug can simply suck up their food.

Assassin bugs are classified in the phylum Arthropoda, class Insecta, order Hemiptera, family Reduviidae.

This one, I believe belong to genus of Apiomerus but not sure about its species.

Hallo Benyamin
Thanks for sharing this very close approach of this Assassin Bug which shows clear detail of the lovely markings and the rich colours of the shield. What caught my eye here is the detail of the 2 shaded paws and the large eyes that is clearly seen. A beautiful macro with bright colours that catches the eye. Best regards.
