[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here is another shot of a Ringtailed Lemur from the wildlife preserve in California. I decided to keep a large amount of the background because I thought the length of the log added to the composition. I am wondering what others think.

I also used Neat Image to reduce noise, but lost some fur detail.

Lemur catta
The Lemur, which means "ghost" in Madagascar, is a good name for these mysterious looking creatures. Spending slightly more time in the trees then on the ground, the ring-tailed lemur is the only primate in Madagascar to make extensive use of the land for foraging. Whether it's fruits, leaves, or flowers, the lemur's happy to be out daily looking for food with a troop of as many as 30 others. On the ground these lemurs walk on all fours, their hind-ends perched high because their arms are so short!

Ring-tailed lemurs on-the-go keep their tails raised high in the air like flags that tell each other "Follow me!"

Lemurs rarely use their hands and feet to peel, pick, or prepare food. They use them mostly to pull branches close, and then they bite off what they want to eat!

This one is a real cutie, Cathy. He looks like he has quite an attitude. I am really glad that you kept all the branches. I think they do add a lot to the composition. Well done and TFS. : )

Hello, Cathy. Neat Image has "spoiled" the shot a little, but, anyway, it's worthwhile posting.

I like composition and pov; great colors too.

I've never seen one of them.

Great capture of this beauty. Everytime my 4 year old sees a lemur, she says, "that's from Madagascar"! I guess I'm a geek that tells her things like that, and she's a geek who remembers everything I tell her...LOL!
