Anilhar aves pode, aparentemente, não ter utilidade nenhuma, mas é fundamental quando, por exemplo, se pretende conhecer melhor as migrações de algumas espécies de aves.
Pássaros previamente anilhados que são recapturados fornecem um enorme manancial de informações.
Durante este processo de registo, são medidas as asas e apurado o peso das aves. É verificado o sexo e calculada a sua idade, variantes que dependem da coloração e do formato das penas, algo que não é muito simples e que depende de espécie para espécie.
Estas e outras informações são anotadas em fichas própriase, posteriormente, enviadas para o Instituto da Conservaçãoda Natureza, onde são centralizadas numa base de dados.

Bird ringing may seem to have no real use but it is very important when, for example, you want to study the migrations os some species. Previously ringed birds provide huge information at this level.
During the ringing process more studies are made. The bird's wings are measured, the bird is weighted. The sex of the bird is also determined as well as the age. These last two are determined by the coulours or wing shape. This is not a simple task because it varies from specie to specie.
These and other informations are noted and later sent to a central database, the ICN (Nature Conservation Institute). |
