I took this Clipper, Parthenos sylvia in the “Butterfly World” outside Stellenbosch. This one is for Gerhard who saved my day. I had planned a trip to the World of Birds at Houtbay, but it was raining heavily. Gerhard knew about “Butterfly World” and pointed me in that direction.

Habitat

This is an extremely variable butterfly with a strong somewhat erratic flight. Found commonly at Lantana flowers in open country and in the neighbourhood of villages. Larval foodplants are Adenia palmata and Tinospora cordifolia.

This is just lovely Japie. The colours are great. How many did you get? Tell us more it's been three years since I've been there. Ps. Watch th BG.

Nice colours, the slightly turned head adds character as well, well caught.

Hi Japie
Great to know there is another butterfly farm in the country, problem is it is 1 500 km away! I think you did well on the exposure, I would tilt it CCW about 20º.

Great work Japie. I like Callie's idea about the rotation. Otherwise it's very nice indeed.

Beautiful image of a wonderful specimen.
The detail of the colorful one of the body of the butterfly with such tones that its wings is huge.
Good sharpness with accurate DOF and frame.
I agree with Callie that if you inclined original image 20 or 30º would even embellish more the composition.

Lovely colours and detail, the DoF is great too.
Good one,very well done.

Japie, This one has a great looking wing design-pattern that's a treat for the eye. I'm surprised that it's as sharp as it is @ 1/3 sec. It sat well for ya! ;-) Great photo!
