[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today'a post I as duck (again), I took this one with my 180 macro-lens and Kenko 1.4 conveter. I normally use my big zoom-lens for this type of picture but it works well even with the macro. I hope you like it even it's a very common subject on TN.

Some info about the Mallards

The Mallard is our commonest duck, the one you are most likely to be greeted by if you throw out food at your local park pond. Some Mallards have been domesticated and so you may also see Mallard-like hybrids showing bewildering colours from khaki brown to pure white. The displaying male Mallard shows his colours very clearly as well as the diagnostic curly black uppertail feathers. The female Mallard is the standard dabbling duck against which all the others should be compared. Mallard in flight can be told by their relatively large size, the contrastingly dark-chested appearance of the males and the fact that the white borders on either side of the dark blue speculum are both equally obvious.

Technique:
Sigma 180 macro/3.5 EX HSM. Kenko 1,4 converter.
ISO 200, Manual exposure, Raw-format, Al-servo autofocus.
Convert, Levels, Contrast, Crop, resized to 800 pixels, USM on the B/W channel in lab-colours. I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 for PP

Best sign winter is close - more ducks on TN.
That's why I don't like this cretures much, but such shots are so amazing that the subject really doesn't matter.

Hi Gert
It's quite incredible how you manage to capture ducks in flight. So sharp with everything else blurry. Fantastic effect.
Excellent work.

After all, it's always a pleasure to check your in-flights shots.

Great composition, pov, sharpness and lighting.

I like bg too.
