Hi,
this is a spring picture for people who don´t like winter like me. I hate it, it is cold, wet and dark. The days are to short. And all is grey and brown. No time to take a good shot.

Pieris napi – Green Veined White (Pieridae)

Appearance: The upperwing background colour of this fairly small and delicate looking butterfly is white with the veins having a dark scaling. Both sexes have a dark tip to the forewing, although it is more pronounced on the female. Females have two spots whereas males have one. The wingspan varies between 40 and 48 mm.

Geographical distribution/ habitat: Europe through Asia and North America. Prefers fields, meadows and waysides where its host plants can be found.

Host plants: Cruciferous plants, eg. Cresses and Garlic mustard.

Food plants: Visits various flowers for nectar and is not fussy on them. In early summer though it prefers to visit dandelions and in the late summer thistles.

Flight time: Flies from May to October in 2 or 3 generations.

hier sieht man aber jedes kleine Farbpünktchen, so messerscharf ist das Foto geworden. Ich bewundere immer diese Augen mit den Tupfen, das ist wunderschön.

Very good shot with excellent detail, colour and composition. No nit except for a bit of noise in the BG (who cares!)

This one is a nice shot.
Good use of light and colours. A bit over-exposed wings though.
Nice colourful flowers are jewels to this photo of rather colourless BFly.

This is picture for me Heinz ;-) I also hate winter so much! Great spring time! Sunny shot, these butterflies are first seen after dark times and dandelions are probably first so well seen flowers. Thanks for this one!
