Hello David,
Basically I think it is a nice idea to use big empty spaces as compositional elements! However I have two issues here... the most important is the tilt, pictures with sea in horizon just HAVE to be level to work! Second your composition is 50/50 sea/sky which may appear a bit static... I did a quick workshop here to show you what I mean, have a look and let me know what you think!
