Nasssty wapses, we hates them, yesss we does. Good photograph though.These are a real pest in our South Island beech forests.They are in plague proportions, and seriously compete with native species for the honeydew exuded by the bark of beech trees.

We are used to see heron or duck reflection on TN, but not insects. You did well to take this shot on this reflective plain surface. I like it! This composition is great, sharp as well. Very well done. It's funny to look this wasp drinking, not use to.

Difficult conditions : clouds , no flash and (maybe) the wasp who can move everytime ( especially the antennae ) and a beautiful result : good colors and details

The wasp itself is a beautiful capture, technically perfect, but the reflection adds an outstanding and original dimension to this shot, one of the best here! Yellow frame is a very good addition to it. I guess a glossy poster of this would be a best seller. Very well done, Howard.

As a rule, I am not found of wasps and tend to stay far away from them but I must admit this is an incredible and beautiful shot, with its circular composition and amazing detail. I wonder what made you pick the colour of the frame. Smile.

Remarkable and beautiful! I don't just like it; I love it! The reflection in the otherwise neutral background is impressive. Aren't you glad your car wasn't dirty?
I once got stung by one (maybe another variant) while I was taking pictures of a group of them chewing away at a tree-root. Good thing it chose to sit on my hand for the job, had it gone for my neck (4" away) it might have hit near an arterie.

This is such a beautiful shot of this insect. We have many of these around here too, and they love to hide out in Mike's many car projects, occasionally stinging him. The black and yellow stripes really stand out, and the reflection looks great on your truck hood. They've certainly made our "human" environment part of THEIR home for sure! Super photo.

I'm new to TN I was introduced to this site from Radu(Xplorator), So I thought I would come check it out and I am impressed with a lot of the photographers here on this site, a lot of fine talent. Your macros are awesome and inspiring at the same time, I have recently started working in macro and hope to fine tune the process so my images turn out as nice as yours. I was just rencently down in your part of the neighborhood photographing maybe next time I'm there I can look you up. Once again EXCELLENT macro of the Yellow Jacket Wasp.

What brand of Macro Filter are you using? I just recently purchased 52mm Hoya +1,+2, & +4 in a set.
