[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This stork was sitting on the railing of a boardwalk checking me out. Like egrets and ibis, they are pretty brave. This particular colony has figured out that there is easy food inside the zoo and huge ponds. About 40 pairs nest two huge trees inside the Bongo and Impala enclosure. They fish from the large inlet that snakes through numerous enclosures from the Trout River.

North America's only native stork, the Wood Stork is endangered and found mostly only in Florida in the U.S. They do reach as far south as Argentina in South America.
Mostly found in swampy freshwater ponds. Adults have dark, naked heads, bills and necks, and white plumage trimmed in black. Males and females are very similar physically. Wood storks nest in treetop colonies, mostly Cypress.

Hi Angyl

Very nice detail , perhaps the Bg could have been more out focus by reducing the DOF. Good shot nevertheless.

What an interesting head on this woodstork, Angyl. Do you mean he was just standing there? A very exotic bird for us West Coast people. Sharp details and good exposure on the whites. TFS. : )

Hi Angyl

Fantastic shot. Good POV and light. Lovely depth of colour. Tack sharp with crisp, clear details. Good work. Thanks.
