Heliconius Charitonius:
=======================

This beauty can be found from Florida until the Northern part of South America. The male of this species is a bit akward. The male starts mating while the females are getting out of the pop. The female are at that time defenseless as they are hanging on the pops to dry. The females lay their eggs on fresh leaves of passiflor plants.

This one was taken in the butterfly gardens in Zeeland again.

PP: No crop, levels, a little curve and some USM

Baie mooi Jan, a very good composition of good colouration and detail. Well Done

What a beautiful butterfly, Jan! I like the fact it's placed on a clear yellow leaf, because it's enhancing the black tones and reminds the stripes. So, contrast is excellent, bringing a third dimension to this image. Very sharp and detailed image. A fine jewel!

Jan, Your butterfly posts always hit a high standard. This one is no exception! Well done!

Great Jan.

Otra bonita presentacion con adecuado colorido e iluminación, que brinda una muy buena agudeza.
Personalmente hubiera rotado unos 30° el original para darle otra perspectiva.

Another pretty presentation with appropriate colorful and illumination, that offers a very good sharpness.
Personally I had rotated 30° the original to give another perspective.

Hi, Jan, I had a glance in your portfolio and you have quite a range of beautiful macro on butterflies, well sharpened and composed, with very good notes. Very good light balance, also. Great job, keep sharing.
Cheers,
Carmem

Jan, another great shot of yours. Great sharpness to show us how beautiful the butterfly is.

Lívio

Zebra longwings (Heliconius charitonius) are one of four longwing and fritillary butterflies found in Florida.
In 1996, Governor Chiles designated the Zebra Longwing as Florida's official state butterfly. The zebra, easily identified by its long black wings striped with yellow, is found in all parts of the state year round.

Excellent work.

Thanks, Juanka.
