[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the Central Kalahari National Park. This is my third shot of this lion.

The winter is not a good time to be a lion in the Kalahari. There is little food, and almost nothing to drink. Lions have been known to eat tsama melons for their liquid, or lick dew from the fur of the members of the pride.

At camp, we had to be extremely careful not to leave water or drink outside our tents lest we have any uninvited guests.

I don't like the light as much as the other lion shots I've posted (it was later on in the day, and I find the light a little flat) but I still quite like this photo because it gives a good idea of how skinny they get during the long winter.

Wonderful shot Ian ! Very sharp !

Great shot, very good pose.
I've tried a WS to improve it a bit
Hope you'll like it

Hi Ian
Now THIS is a nice kitty cat! I love the whole of it, especially the black mane. No nits, although if you use shaddow/highlight and selective colour in PS, you can pump a lot of colour into the scene.

Wonderful shot of this lion, he looks like my cat.
One thing though, I would have the lion to the right a bit more not centered.
Well done.

Mike

Now, thats a fine cat ! A young, full mane, perfect postured, piercing eyes, athletic one motivated lion ! They dont get any better than this , unless you use a warm up filter next time !

Excellent shot, Ian. Great pose, excellent detail. Nice work!!
