this little animal was found in one of my boots, where he settles a whole family (mother + 7 suckling babies). They destroyed everything that was in the basement, but however, I was reluctanct to kill them. I just caught the babies by hand and then, it was an easy game to catch the mother by attracting her (she was very furious and she was screaming, watching after me form the top of a shelve). I put them back into the forest but I have some doubts now since I can ear noise in my basement again.
This rodent is called dormhouse (french: loir, glis glis). It is used to eat only fruits, during night. It likes fresh fruit, and it is kind of lazy. I tried to give them both nuts and apple and they always preferred apples.... but the skin of the apple was not that good and they only eat the inside apple !!!!!Eyes are deep and black while the grey tail is wonderfully sweet and furry. In old times, romans were used to grow them for food and furs. |
