A male stonechat.

This picture was taken through my car window near the fish pools of Kibbutz Mayan zvi
in the coast of Israel.
The camera was hand held.

The Stonechat is a very small bird wintering in Israel.

Magnificent composition, DOF and POV. Unfortunately we dont see the eye of the Stonechat but perhaps it is my screen.
Thanx

Hi Ido, and welcome here on TN
I am the one who was asleep the last couple of weeks and missed a lot.
I know this birdie very well, they too, are residents here in SA. The pose and composition is very nice and pleasing,
Howevr, you need to shoo at least f8 to render more of the birdie sharp and in focus.
Also, you should use fill flash, the one on the camera does wonders, try it, you will be surprised. Flash gives you that highlight in the eye, that just make your subject pop off the screen. Lastly, use a tripod or beanbag, the lens is just too heavy to realy handhold properly, and thus shake or movement results,

Hi Ido, I think Callie's advice is spot on. The composition is exceptional in the photo. If the focus was spot on it would have been perfect.

Hi Ido, veyr nice image and composition, the focus is a little soft. I think Callie has said it all really. But, it's a very nice job. Look forward to more.

Coincido con las críticas de Callie y Gerhard sobre el problema de foco e iluminación.
A pesar de ello... la composicion es muy bonita Ido.
Buen trabajo de PP.

I agree with the critics of Callie and Gerhard on the focus problem and illumination.
In spite of it... the composition is very pretty Ido.
Good job of PP.

Great composition even if the focus is a bit soft, the pose is great.
Well done

Composition is great, but focus is rather too soft. Nevertheless fine photo.

I like this composition and the exposure is good, but so is Callies advice about the Fill Flash. Well done.

Thanks for posting

Ido, beautiful composition. After all, it's not easy to shoot from a car.

It's a beauty Ido. Very good colours and composition. Good advise already given to you. Well done.

There is something very attractive in this shot. Can't say why, because this tiny chap is a bit dark and colors/contrast/sharpness are on the low side (Callie's suggestions are very useful). But, the composition is, luckily for a snapshot from a car, very good. The white halo works very well, as well as the greyish green to convey a strong atmosphere to your shot. So, all together, well done, Ido.

The head on the pale background spot is a masterpiece of composition. Even if not sharp, it is a great post.

Bonjour Hido, trés bonne composition et belle harmonie de couleurs, malheureusement la netteté n'est pas au rendez vous.
