The False Apollo (Archon apollinus) is a butterfly that common only in the countries of East Mediterranean sea (from Greece, Turkey to Israel until Iraq and Iran). In Israel it can be found in all the mediterranean region from December to April (December in hot places - Central Israel; April in cold places - North Israel).
Its fore wings are quite transparent.
The female is darker than the male (the butterfly in the picture is a female).

Wing span: 55 m"m.
Host plants: Birthwort - only Aristolochia sp.
