White-lined Sphinx or "Hawk" Moth.

ALIEN, because insect macro photography is often considered "other worldly"..

RESURRECTION, because in the original photo, the wing-tip at the top of the frame was cut-off...

I added about 5% canvas to the frame and "resurrected" the wing tip. I'm curious as to what you think of the cloning work..

In Elements 3, it involves adding a white canvas at a slightly larger frame ratio, then zooming and cloning the existing edge area outward..After cloning was complete, I added a 2 pixel layer of gaussian blur, to help cover the work..

I HAVE INCLUDED TWO ALTERNATE SHOTS IN THE ATTACHED WORKSHOP..They have been cropped significantly, because the insect was just too far away in those original frames.

ONE GOING AWAY, ONE FROM A HEAD-ON POV..

You can see the my other two posts and information specific to this moth HERE

Hope you like it, and have Great Weekend!

Hi Howard,
Excellent shot indeed! The body of the moth is pin sharp and the blurred wings give a clear indication of flight - well timed and captured - Hope it makes a hundred

Mark

Great photo, and I didn't even notice the "extra"
wonderful
best wishes
Rob :)

what was cloned?! i don´t see it...
excellent shot & extraordinary PP-work, howard! :-)
superb composition and details -
on the inflight-"re-fueling".
take care & have a terrific weekend, thor.

Howard fantastic shot both in this and WS images. Your PP work on the above shot is excellent and completes the composition. Focus on the body is accurate and motion blur in wings adds to the capture. Very good informative note accompanying this post. Excellent work Sir.

Hello Howard,
Great shot! The tight framing shows lots of details, wings are nicely blurred and you did great postprocessing job - no signs of any cloning there. Nice to have the flower in the frame too!
VERY WELL DONE!

PS. I think the "head-on POV" picture is great. It looks pretty amazing, very unusall.

Top quality work my friend and great action moment captured. Well done and u can be proud of your work here.

Howard, this is another very beautiful one.

I do enjoy colors and the dark bg.

Lovely scene.

I know how much they are difficult to photograph. Colors are great. It is very sharp. Fantastic.
Resurection is very well perform. As I was looking for any fault in the process, I considered the leaf which is left and above. The added part is more blur than the original. But actually the blur part could also be a second leaf, more in the distance. So, indeed, perfect work. TFS.

Hi Howard,
Just looking through your gallery, this is a great shot. Firstly because it just is :-) I'd love to capture something like this, technically a great shot, and secondly because the cloning work is absolutely A1. I've looked this over and over and can't see a trace. I thought that the rear wing edge would be a giveaway because with patterns like that it's very hard to clone without the replication being obvious. No sign at all, so a great shot with some 'other-worldly' post processing too :-)
Cheers,
Adrian
