Persian Leopard
(Panthera pardus saxicolor)
The Persian Leopard is probably the largest of the sub-species.
They occur in Afghanistan, Armenia and neighbouring Russian states.
Less than 200 are left in the wild and there are 172 leopards in captivity around the world, all belonging to the captive breeding programme.
