[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a retraction/correction of this bird formerly mis-indentified. I was fooled by the late-afternon light that gave it a more golden color combined with the distance of the shot. The American Goldfinch has a conical beak, not present in this subject. I will post a more clear representation of Mimus polyglottos (Mockingbird) tommorrow. Sorry I'm new to birding & not very familar with the different species! Hey, I'm learning about nature through photography... the hard way at times!!;-)

SHOOTING CONDITIONS: Clear & late afternoon @ 5:00pm. SHOOTING DATA: I used manual mode, ISO 50, hand-held & pattern metering without flash. Shooting distance was approx. 60 feet.

Good image of the female Howard. Does your male also have red eyes like ours do. These are extremely difficult shots to get. You handled this well. Good job

Here we are Howard, the focus is a wee bit soft, but it looks like your new Telephot is working well.
Did you used a tripod?

Very good Howard.
Good details, colours and composition.
Just a little soft and in this case I think it is presumably that you use a big aperture, when you put something in front of the lens, conveters, macrolens and other things it's good to step down the aperture 1 to 2 step. The extra equipment always steal sharpness.Maybe you have to use a tripod if you do so.
Very well done.

Beautiful lighting,beautiful bird.

Impressed you caught this one in the wild like this - I have only managed to catch them at my birdfeeder, and, it seems to me, many people up here in the North wouldn't ever have managed to see them. Well done!

First, let me congratulate you for the good use of this late winter light. It would still have been a good shot without the goldfinch :-). So, Howard, it's a very good shot conveying a nice sunny winter day feeling and the joy of a bird in the scene. We have goldfinches (chardonneret in France) here. I see this shot as a global hommage to nature's beauty. Very well done.

Howard, I really have some problems when I try to shoot birds similar to this in a similar scenario.

Great job. Sharpness is great and colors are beautiful. The bird is really cute.

This is very hard to capture small birds on the trees - you did excellent job here Howard! I like colourf of the sky and soft light.

Una bonita presentacion con un entorno un tanto cargado.

A pretty presentation with surroundings somewhat stuffy.

Salut Howard.

Sorry, no time for translation.
Thanx
