this is not aeshna mixta, she is one of the late flying species.
what you have there is a femnale of Brachytron pratense... a very nice pose.

Hi nice to see one from you Jaap, it's hard work converting from a compact to an SLR I know mine has been driving me nuts.
This is a very freshly emerged Hairy dragonfly they do not stay like this for long the golden look will clear over the next couple of days as it matures.

Goegenmorgen Jaap,
Na een lange stilte nu in eens twee na elkaar, maar ook deze mag er zijn, ik zou best tevreden zijn mocht ik ooit eens zoiets kunnen maken, want hier is uw domein waar veleniets kunnen van leren, de kleuren en de zit houding geven een prachtig plaatje om naar te kijken. Mooi werk opnieuw!

Dag Jaap. Je hebt hier het vrouwtje van de glassnijder te pakken. Staat er goed op, voldoende scherp en een mooie POV.
Het kan aan mijn scherm liggen maar de kleuren komen bij mij wat flets over.

I see that you have playing wiht you new camera when I was away. It's not easy to from a Compact Digi to a DSRL.
But you did a very good job with this beautiful dragonfly.
Well composed, good POV and very nice colours.
Maye you could add a bit more sharpen, Howard did a nice WS.

Hi Jaap
Another excellent capture with the new camera. You are doing just great and your aim to improve upon your previous good record with the Finepix will definitively produce mega results in time to come. I (for one) will eagerly monitor your progress.
This is a great shot showing amazing details, excellent colours, perfect DOF, and stunning lighting/exposure control especially using the Speedlite as fill-in flash.

A great macro, perfect DOF, helped by the F/20 aperture. Lots of detail.
This reminds me of a shot of a hoverfly I will post very soon.
