[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
PASSER DOMESTICUS - Moineau domestique (F) - sparrow (UK/US).
Well-known in many parts of the world, this little chap lives always close to humans. Sparrows don't like woods and countryside. For ages, they have been considered as a plea, being lazy, greedy, living on food accumulated by humans. You'll find them in cities, villages and farms where they are never far from granaries, pigeon lofts, farmyards, etc.
--------------------------------
Lenght : 14 cm - non-migrant - nests in holes in walls, apertures under a roof, and sometimes a strawball suspended under a bush - Females lay two or three times a year 4 to 6 eggs from april to august - food: grain and crumbs.
----------------------------------------------
I organized a hidden watching spot for our familiar birds, close to places where they like to go. When it's freezing, I put some vegetal fat and seeds. They use to come regularly. During this time of the year, we have sparrows, robins, bluetits and blackbirds. The most aggressive ones for food are bluetits. These birds don't mix easily, and it's rare to have them together on the same branch.
Shooting distance was 3,60 m. Manfrotto tripod, 1,7x teleconverter. Spot metering - ISO 100 - Auto white balance. TIFF mode
PS: Cropped, Brightness +13, Contrast +15, Hues saturation +30, USM (70 - 2,0 - 1) . Hazy backlight sun. Saved to JPG. NeatImage to clean the background.

This is a good shot Jean Michel of your sparrow. I can't take close up pictures like this with my camera, so I envy all those beautiful bird photos TN posts. You have captured him well, TFS, Janice

Ça c'est une image que j'aime, Jean-Michel!
Cet air taquin me fait sourire. Il me dit: "Tu vois, il y en a d'autres qui me photographient et qui réussissent mieux que toi un portrait de moi. Tiens, toi!"
Très réussie!
Un travail remarquable et 'fameux': image et note.
Merci

Everything is just perfect. Good job

My friend sparrow - but what a proud pose :-)

Really a nice pose and compo of this common sparrow. You did a nice job with this. Well done.

Besides the beautiful pose and composition, you knew I was quite interested in looking at the Sony tele shots, and this one has a very very acceptable quality for me, I like it very much.
I would love to have a original fulres without crop jpg to have at look. Would you mind sending one? Thanks in advance, and congrats for this shot!

This is a ver good shot with excellent sharpness and DOF. I like the composition too.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Jean Michel, lovely shot. Excellent composition, pov and pose. A common bird, a great shot.

By the way: the title of your photo reminded of the movie "Almost Famous". If you like pop culture, especially rock and roll, it is worthwhile taking a look.

I tried a little workshop.
