Chypre en Angleterre. Bientôt, toutes les cours d'Europe en raffolèrent; Louis XIV en installa sur la Seine, et Napoléon prit des dispositions en vue de la protection de cette espèce.
En Suisse, il fut introduit au 19ème siècle.
