Red Cap Mushrooms

I am very slowly recovering from the flu, and only just able to manage a visit to TN now and then.

Here is another show of the beautiful red capped mushrooms, Amanita muscaria, poking through the pine needles.

New Zealand has 14 recognised Amanita species, of which two are exotics, and two are not named but described from poor quality material, and ten are native species. Off these seven were only named in 1991 by Geoffrey Ridley. (Notes from Clive Shirley, thanks Clive). Check Clive’s site out, I can thoroughly recommend it: www.hiddenforest.co.nz/fungi/

These red-capped mushrooms are very poisonous.

Hi Janice,
a pic with great details.
Nice colors and POV, too.
Andrea

Another nice photo of A. muscaria this must be the most popular fungus on TN. Something is a little odd with the photo... none of the pine needles are in focus. I guess this is a little camera shake and the use of the flash. Never the less its come out well with good colours and sharp main image.

Hi Janice, this is my favourite type of mushroom. It is like something out of fairy tales. You have shown it well with excellent lighting, colours and details. Well done and I hope you get better soon.
Best wishes,
Dean.

Hi Janice,
this moshrooms are wonderful - but just for looking ;-) They always remember me to my childhood, I had a book with paintings of this moshroom inside and romantic stories. But this moshrooms are rare here in Germany, I haven't seen one for many years, so thanks for it

Hi Janice,
An excellent shot on this Red Cap Mushroom. Your fill flash exposure look supern. Nice vibrant colors and tack sharp detail. You can almost feel the texture of the cap and gills in this shot. Well done!

Hi Janice
A stunning capture of this lovely mushroom and you even caught a little bonus insect at the bottom of the dome.
The colours are splendid and the details are very sharp. Excellent exposure and well setup composition.
Great work and TFS.

Loot

Hello Janice,
I hope the flu is gone already!
I've missed this shot, but it is no doubt worth of attention. The POV here is very low and I like it a lot. The central framing works here and the details are very sharp. I like the natural colours too. I'm just not entirely sure if you should blurr all the pine needles around the mushroom. I think some should stay unblurred to give the picture some depth.
Overall, very well done on this one!
