Very good! We have one blackie in our backyard, but I find it to be much more shy than it's gray colored family. Is there a name for the black ones...I know there is a name for the white ones. Very nice close-up on this cutie.

Very cute Ziggy.
Is it old ? I can see alot of grey hair. :-)
Very good exposure, you handle the black parts very well.
Good details and compostion. It's only the white parts in the BG I don't like.
Very well done.
Happy New Year.

The Black Squirel and Albino are "Grey Squirels." These are their variety in color as you mentioned.
Ziggy, excelent capture for a fine portrait. The red eye from the flash could have been fixed in photoshop or similar.
Well done

Hi Ziggy
Thhis is a beautiful little critter! Good work on the blacks
As you took this in house, baiting them you have some control over the BG, get yourself some coloured bord and use it as a prop for the bg, some neautral colour like green, brownor blue works well, Then put down the nuts where they can get it, wait and retry.
This is just to get is more pleasing BG and a tip for fiture reference, not meaning your BG is not nice!
The term for black is melanistic, as white is albino!

You worked hard for this one, Ziggy.
Callie's hints are great. The digital photo allows us to take tons of photos. You should not go without it. I often use the mode "raffales" when my subject moves.
A great post: picture and note.
Thanks and an Excellent New Year for you!

Firstly, please allow me to wish you all the best for 2005, Ziggy. I have been away for a while and missed some of your shots, I have a weeks vacation left and might drop off the radar again.
The subject featured is a first for me, never seen them before. This is a nice mugshot showing sharp details and nice eye contact. Well done.

Ziggy, it's a little funny to imagine you lying on the floor in order to shoot (just kidding...).
The effort was worthwhile. I like the picture. Great POV, DOF and composition.
Is it the flash reflected on the eye of the animal?
Great job.
