The Giants Causeway is a region located at the tip of Northern Ireland and is renowned world wide for its beauty and unique geological qualities. The region is made of a volcanic rock called basalt which flowed out of the earths crust some 50-60 million years ago.

When it cooled and solidified the chemical elements in the basalt formed approximately some 40,000 geometric, mostly hexagonal, shapes.

Hi Stephen
I just love this land-, sea-, and skyscape of yours. The time exposure has caused an amazing visual result on the collective movement of the waves. The bright FG plays off in a brilliant balance with the darkish water surface, the piece of landmass, and the sky. Yet none of those mentioned are so dark to loose any significant detail.
The vertical composition was a wise choice as it compliments the view. The colours are stunning, the details are tack sharp from FG unto BG, and the exposure was masterfully managed.
Excellent work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Steve,
Because this area is so well photographed it feels like I know it well. Yours is a wider perspective than most people do. It turns this into a landscape too, and I like that very much. I like the effect of the long exposure, too. I like the dark sky, but the contrast may be a bit too much. Maybe it's because I was looking for a grad filter. Also, I would recommend cropping just a bit from the bottom so the viewers eye doesn't wander off into it.

Wonderful colors and composition. The wide angle lens works very well here, and the time exposre adds to the effect

Yes, I have heard of this place. We never got to Northern Ireland, and my grandfather was born in Larne. It was a rushed trip for us around the southern part of the island.
It is a beautiful land Stephen, and your view here is awesome. The clouds make it look even more dramatic, and the basalt shapes and colours are great to see. The exposure is perfect!
Well done, TFS
Janice

Hi Stephen,
Wow, great colours. A dramatic dark angry sky, interesting rock formations with lots of textures and lines. The composition is excellent. A really nice shot. Janice

Simply a stunning image of a world famous landscape - very well done indeed in taking such an interesting shot of the Giant's Causeway.

Lovely colours, depth of field, composition and capture of the moving water.

Beautiful.

Hi Stephen,
I love this shot. I love the contrast between the dark in the BG and the light in the FG, as well as the colors. The composition is intriguing, with the straight lines and the curves in the clouds and the water line, and the hexagons. The long exposure further accentuates the magical mood in this seascape.
Great work and TFS. : )

Hi Steve,
Excellent shot, you seem to churn out these amazing land and sea scapes with relative ease. Excellent details, but the contrasting colours and light I think are fantastic. It's a beautiful shot to sit and look at.
Cheers,
Adrian

Nature's charisma at its best!
Beautiful image, Stephen.
I love the contrast between the well lit foreground featuring those interesting rocks and the dark ominous sky in the background.
The cliff in the middle adds a lovely dimension to the whole composition.

Super photograph, the dark sky and the yellow green on the stone make an unusual but effective combination.

What a wonderful and interesting place that you have well captured ! The composition is superb with dark sky with contrast well with clear rocks.
Congratulations Stephen and thanks for sharing.

I like the effect you did with smothing the ocean with the 2 sec shutter speed. Very cool. The colors are great as well. TFS!
