[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This does look like the claw of some strange alien creature. Its actually the branch of one of the varieties of what is locally called Champa.I took this at a beach resort called Hua Hin.
Champi and Champa (Michelia champaka). These are two varieties of a tree which bear in the former a scented creamy white flower, and in the latter yellowish ones which are in great demand for floral decorations. Both kinds of trees have soft wood and are liable to be broken easily, hence, they are not grown near a house.
In India there is a belief that palnting the tree near the house would attract snakes, apparently the perfume of the flower is irresistable for snakes especially cobras!!
