Hello Everyone...

When travelng up the Intracoastal Waterway, we often encounter dolphins which love to play in the wake. They will follow for quite some time jumping, rolling and swimming upside down. At times they roll on their side right beside the boat and keep pace, just looking up at you. One just has to wave. I should be shocked if one ever waves back! My favorite is when a mother and baby play side by side. There were 6 at this particular time. I believe this is a female Atlantic Bottlenose dolphin.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to critique.

Odontoceti (toothed whales)The toothed whales include dolphins, porpoises, beluga whales, beaked whales, and sperm whales

In the Atlantic Ocean, bottlenose dolphins are found from Nova Scotia and Norway to Patagonia and the tip of South Africa. They are the most abundant dolphin species along the United States from Cape Cod through the Gulf of Mexico.

In U.S. waters of the western North Atlantic, the bottlenose population is estimated at about 11,700. Of course, at least 9,200 are offshore animals (Blaylock, et al., 1995)

very nice moment shot delfin;-)

Great action shot Kathy. I've only been lucky enough to see dolphins do this once, and I didn't have camera with me. This is the perfect moment of capture with the water and dolphin frozen in time. I like it.
Regards,
Ryan

Great timing and good use of the fast shutter speed to freeze the action.
