Ant on back of hairstreak larva. Performing a service of protection in exchange for sweet secretions. The larva was moving down the trunk presumably to pupate as it was fully grown.

Hi Julian!
I think the ant found a vehicle to transport itself. But this larva was not a quick transporter. It have to wait for a long time to arrive your stage.
And about this photo: It needs only a word: Perfect. TFS
