[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
To continue my journey through Yellowstone NP. This is the Yellowstone River near Tower Falls in the northern part of the park. At this stage of the river the canyon isn't as big as near the Lower Falls but still impressive.

Some information about Yellowstone River:

The Yellowstone River is a tributary of the Missouri, approximately 671 mi (1,080 km long), in the western United States. Considered the principal tributary of the upper Missouri, the river and its tributaries drain a wide area stretching from the Rocky Mountains in the vicinity of the Yellowstone National Park across the mountains and high plains of southern Montana and northern Wyoming. It is the longest undammed river in the lower 48 states.

It rises in northwestern Wyoming near Younts Peak at the continental divide in southwestern Park County. It flows northward through Yellowstone National Park, feeding and draining Yellowstone Lake, then dropping through Yellowstone Falls and forming the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone within the confines of the park. It flows northward into Montana through the Absaroka Range and emerges from the mountains near the town of Livingston, where it turns eastward and northeastward, flowing across the northern Great Plains past the city of Billings.

Wow, what a view! Looks like you had a great vacation. Excellent exposure here and beautiful detail throughout. A nice composition with so much to look at, a great image. Interesting note too, a great post.

So you're in the US! If you should happen to come out to the east coast, you could visit Shanendoah National Park! Full of black bears, home of the Appalacian Trail, and packed with beautiful views of the famous blue ridge mountains. I live only a few hours north of the park. Anyhow, I love this shot.. and I love the park featured in it! Did you happen to see Yogi Bear?

Good shot here, I think. I really like the color of the river.. very wild looking, and not the color I would've expected for a river. And either the cloudiness that day or the time of day that you took the shot added a nice balance of light across the image. The cliffs on the right are softer and darker, but the cliffs on the right (that follow the river) are much brighter and sharper looking. Good landscape shot!

Another nice sharp image, Niek, with great DOF. I think it is the scale of the scenery in the west that is the most impressive, don't you? You captured it well. I do like the compsition you chose.

What a wonderful view you have caught there. There are times now when I stand looking a scenes like this thinking 18mm is too much... I need 10mm or similar. I guess you might have been thinking something similar.

I love the S shaped river through the middle...

Wow, dit is echt een wilde rivier zeg! Dit ziet er echt top uit. Exposure is super en er is veel detail waar te nemen, zelfs in de bomen. Well done & TFS!

Almost a bird's eye-view of this grand valley, Niek. The "S" bend in the river reminds me of the rivers in my part of the mountains in India.
Great image with a fine perspective, excellent depth of view and pleasant composition.

Nicely done, Niek. This is a big view, including the sky, river and trees. I like what you've done with it. I would be tempted to put something in the foreground, but that would probably just be a distraction from the subject. I find your color a bit subtle. Most of this may have been due to the overcast skies. For example, compare ( this one I shot in bright light).
