I will repost this picture tomorrow as for some reason I got the wb faulty on this version. Sorry!

If you need a reason to go to Alaska, Denali is it. Words can't decribe how fantastic this place is. With three times the size of Yellowstone this park boasts an enormous number of wild animals. Bears, Caribou, Moose, you name it.

The first day we went into the park we saw this sow with her two cute cubs. In front of our lens they crossed the Toklat River. The cub in the left almost drowned when he crossed the second part of the river. Luckily he made it and we got a series of photos of all the action. :) If I can find the time I'll upload those photos as workshops.

The Grizzly Bear, sometimes called the Silvertip Bear, is a powerful brownish-yellow bear that lives in the uplands of western North America. It has traditionally been treated as a subspecies, Ursus arctos horribilis, of the brown bear living in North America.

Grizzly Bears reach weights of 180–680 kg (400–1,500 lb); the male is on average 1.8 times as heavy as the female, an example of sexual dimorphism. Their coloring ranges widely across geographic areas, from blond to deep brown or black. These differences, once attributed to subspeciation, are now thought to be primarily due to the different environments these bears inhabit, particularly with regard to diet and temperature.

The Grizzly has a large hump over the shoulders which is a muscle mass used to power the forelimbs in digging. The head is large and round with a concave facial profile. In spite of their massive size, these bears can run at speeds of up to 55 km/h (35 mph).

Normally a solitary, nocturnally active animal, in coastal areas the Grizzly congregates alongside streams and rivers during the salmon spawn. Every other year females (called sows) produce one to four young (most commonly two) which are small and weigh only about 500 g (1 pound). Sows are very protective of their offspring.

The current range of the Grizzly Bear extends from Alaska, south through much of Western Canada, and into the northern Northwestern United States including Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. It is originally native to a greater range than this.

Nice capture Pieter
Grizzlies aren't the easiest animal to photograph.
Nice composition and detail. I like how they are
crossing the river and doing what bears do.
Again, a great shot, Plus I'm glad they all made it safely to the other side.
TFS Janice

Hi Pieter,
Great capture of this family, superb wildlife scenery!
Bear behaviour is interesting in many ways, fishing techniques are for instance well developed and a treat to watch...
Very nice composition here, bright sunshine makes exposure difficult but you manage fine here!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hoi Pieter,
Groeten,
Niek

Hi Pieter,
Wonderful shot, a nice moment to capture. Beautiful detail and although you're at maximum focal length with this, I like the framing/composition that allows us to see the surrounding terrain. Your note is very useful to me as I'm planning a trip to Alaska, probably for next spring.
Best regards,
Adrian

HI Pieter,
an amazing moment to see those wilde Animals in Nature. I like your shot very much, thanks.
When the German or Austrian have a bear, they shot him dead - soooo pooor, I think you have heard of the horrible story 2 months ago.
So thanks for this shot, bye

Hello Pieter,
Amazing capture.POV,details, sharpness, lighting, framing and composition are wonderful.Excellent work!
TFS...:-)

You were lucky Pieter, to see such a scene. Not every visitor to Denali gets such a treat. I've seen my share of grizzlies but never in Denali...and I've been twice. You caught a great composition here. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Thanks for sharing

Evelynn : )

What a great experience Pieter,
The details are nice, clear and sharp.
Good colours, lighting and exposure. The POV couldn't be any better.
Well composed and nicely framed.
Thanks for posting, have a great week my friend.

Hi Pieter,
