| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A few days before Christmas of 2004 we were fortunate to enjoy a walk in the newly fallen snow of the Swiss Alps in the resort of Klosters.
The trees were laden with a heavy load of snow and everything, as far as the eye could see was covered in a layer of white, brilliantly illuminated by wonderful sunshine.
The river on the right is clear and calming. The people in the distance are wrapped up in their conversation and dragging a little child on a sleigh.
Here in the subtropical South (of the USA) where I now live, snowfall spells disaster: people frantically buy up milk and bread reserves in supermarkets, schools shut down, businesses close and nature is paralysed like the people, without the necessary equipment to handle this beautiful phenomenon....
When snow falls in the Alps, we embrace it. We make it part of our everyday lives. Of course we are well equipped for it as it is a relatively frequent event. Back in my home country we just have a very different way of handling it.
Photographically I didn't need to do much more but point and click for this shot. The autofocus just snapped right onto the nearest branches it could find. I took about 30 pictures on this day and I was very fortunate that pretty much every one of them came out a winner! |

Welcome to TN - great picture with excellent composition and focal point.
I know what you mean about the snow. I used to live further North where poeple could manage with snow and didn't crash their cars on every corner. Now I live in the south and don't know where to cry or laugh at the antics when a sprinkling of snow arrives.
TFS
