Peacock Butterfly
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the Peacock Butterfly (Inachis io), one of the most attractive butterflies encountered in the UK, so called due to the false eyes on the wings that resemble a peacock's feathers. It is encountered from July to September. The caterpillars feed on common nettles. The butterflies are attracted to a variety of garden flowers.
For a period of a few days I had dozens of these around my garden. I found them quite difficult to approach and in almost every instance they were frightened away by the flash. I haven't seen them for a few days now but hopefully they will return when the weather improves. |

Hi Andrew,
Very nice shot of this beautiful butterfly. Nicely captured and very well composed. Sharp with nice details. Blurry BG is nice.
