[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the Peacock Butterfly (Inachis io), one of the most attractive butterflies encountered in the UK, so called due to the false eyes on the wings that resemble a peacock's feathers. It is encountered from July to September. The caterpillars feed on common nettles. The butterflies are attracted to a variety of garden flowers.

For a period of a few days I had dozens of these around my garden. I found them quite difficult to approach and in almost every instance they were frightened away by the flash. I haven't seen them for a few days now but hopefully they will return when the weather improves.

Hi Andrew,
Very nice shot of this beautiful butterfly. Nicely captured and very well composed. Sharp with nice details. Blurry BG is nice.
