Pyronia tithonus 2
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Pyronia tithonus,
English: Gatekeeper
French: l'Amaryllis
German: Rostbraunes Ochsenauge
Dutch: Oranje Zandoogje
This is the male. The female is shown here.
Later I will show you also the Pararge aegeria, in Dutch "Bont zandoogje" and the Maniola jurtina, in Dutch "Bruin zandoogje". They are all family of the Satyridae.
A widespread species employing a large variety of habitats. The male differs by having a strong sex brand across the forewing. There are a number of similar species in Europe, but it is easy to tell the difference the majority of the time.
Here an other view
Much more butterflies in my personal collection!

Another grand capture, Hendrik. I love the colours and crisp focus. And your composition works exceptionally well. I love the the delicacy of the Queen Anee's Lace flower behind the richer tones of your butterfly.

Hi Hendrik
You have done a super job here. Very nicely composed, good POV and the depth of colour is spot on. Well done! :-)
