[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took that picture in the Bronx Zoo (New York). The monkey was in a dark area, behind a glass. The glass was dirty. I used a flash that I oriented upward from a low position. In fact the monkey was staring at the flash as he was intrigued. The flash was connected to my camera with an extension cord using the hot shoe of the Camera. Then when I took the picture (having the flash in my left hand and the camera in the right hand) the flash created a reflection on the glass. I was lucky that the background was distant from the animal and therefore stayed dark. The question is : should the animal be centered in the frame ? or left as it is in the right hand side ??

Interesting picture François. I would cut the left part since it does not add anything to the composition (because it's black); leaving only he main subject in the almost square frame. Only an opinion, since you asked for it.
The overall effect is fantastic: he seems to be playing with some sort of fireworks.

You should have titled: Merlin the magician :)
What a nice shot you got Fracois, I like very much.
I agree with Rene, a more square framing would be stronger, allowing us to see bigger.
As I said, to me it seems a magician making a special receipe.

I like this shot Just the bright light and the moneys face makes it dramatic looking.I think he if a magician from the Planet of The Apes.

Francois, I admit that I passed your photo up at 1st glance because it looked fake - not real. To answer your ? I think I would've centered for this type of subject/shot. Interesting & unique effect seen...sometimes these shots just come along & amaze..never to be duplicated. This is one! Welcome!

François, to me, the composition is perfect. I think you don't need to change anything.

I liked your note. This is not a common shot. I think it's almost mysterious. Great job.

This is one of those photoes that is best left as it is!
The compostion is just right - the decisive moment!
