Le plus grand rapace nocturne européen. Plumage brun avec des sties ongitudinales et horizontales brun noir, dessous plus clair que le dos. également strie de brun-noir. Iris jaune a orange. Pattes emplumées.Longues aigrettes brunes, dressées ou étalées horizontalement.

Répartition : Europe, Asie, nord de l'afrique.En Europe, surtout en montagne. Longtemps persecuté est plus abondantes depuis qu'il est protégé.

Habitat : forêts ou montagne et des collines avec paroies rocheuses. Chasse dans les champs, prairies,marais, au bord des plans d'eau et sur des dépots d'ordures

Excellent capture of this beautiful owl. Very nice pose here looking back over it shoulder. Great sharpness with so many details in the plumage. The colours look great and very natural. Dof is spot on with a well blurred background setting off the owl nicely. The composition is perfect with the owl out of centre and looking into the picture. All over a very pleasant picture to look at - well done.
