Another endemic plant from Uludag. It grows 2000-2300 meter high. It has very hairy leaves and flowers. This is a medical and aromaic plant.
Sideritis Genus And S. Dichotoma Fam: Labiateae
The genus Sideritis is distributed in southern Europe and Anatolia. About 100 different species can be distinguished. This genus includes annuals, herbaceous perennials and shrubs. Sideritis shows two centres of diversity. In Spain, at least 45 native species grow. The majority of them are endemics concentrated in the Iberian south-east. Among them, 14 species are considered as endangered and 19 as vulnerable. In Turkey, no fewer than 43 species occur: 75% or 33 species are endemic, often with limited distribution.
Perennial, 20-75 cm, simple or little-branched, densely adpressed white tomentosebelow, loosely cobwebby-woolly, sparsely glandular, greenish above. Middle cauline leavesoblong to oblong-lanceolat, mucronate, sessile, finely crenate-denticulate to serrate, 1,5-3 x 0,5-1,2 cm. Verticillasters 5-12, 6-flowered, crowded and lowest 1-3 cm distant. Middle bracts yellowish-green, puberulent with sessile glands, broadly ovate to orbicular, 1,2 -2 x 1-2 cm,with acumen 2-7 mm, lowest bracts serrulate to distincly serrate, contracted at base. Bracteoles absent. Calyx tubular-campanulate,9-11 mm, 5-10 veined, 5-toothed, teeth equal or the upper larger than the 4 lower, teeth linear-lanceolate, 3,5-5 mm, acute, with eglandular hairs, tube with glandular hairs. Corolla yellow 12-16 mm, hairy and with brown striae inside,tube not exceeding calyx, upper lip patent, ± flat, entire or 2-fid, lower lip 3-lobed. Stamens 4,included in corolla tube; style included. Nutlets ovate, rounded at apex, glabrous.

Abot bee? Not important, it is only an accessory on my photo. It smells very nice and its tea was very aromatic and delicious, I prepared and drunk. It was tested and was approved by me :)
Technical Extras: It was very powerful windy day, because of this focus a bit soft. Whole plant (even flowers) was covered by hair, it efected bad the focus. |
