This is indeed a very spectacular capture! It looks great!

You're right! What I see here is the picture of an extraterrestrial alien ;-) This is a very impressive insect that I never saw before! You managed the flash perfectly here and we can see a lot of details! The black bg enhances greatly the insect too. Great job and TFS,

Nice shot.
The note was taken from a article that I've read before and shouldn't have been pasted this way. It gives the impression that your own cone head mantis was shot in France (but it was in Spain). There also a lot of "see above" when there is here nothing to see above. No plume moth, no Sphecid Wasp, ...

Pues mira, aunque presumo de utilizar muchos recursos caseros para sacar mis fotos, utilizar polispan de difusor no se me había ocurrido, y lo probaré seguro. Es dificir encontrar cosas neutras para ultilizar como difusor. Yo suelo utilizar pañuelos de papel por lo comodos que son, y por que puedes poner varias capas en función de la caña que quieras, pero dan un tono rojo que hay que compensar en el PS.
¿De que grosor lo pones?

What a picture Nicholas! I doubt if this mantis could have posed more perefectly for you. BG enhances the image, but it's the clarity of colour on subject and plant that makes the image very very impressive. TFS..

Dear Nicolas,
it's phatastic this picture. Technically all is perfect: comp., sharpness, the dark background. The animal is spectacular. What does this strange body mean? I guess it is an example of "Gestaltauflösung" (in german), this means the dissolution of body contours.

Thank you Nicolas, for your comments on my slides. I will be absent from TN for quite a while (I go bicycle trekking on the Silk Road in Central Asia). Have a good summer, see you again in October.
