Taken at Brookfield Zoo through a transparent window. The Lion was about 4 ft from me when i took this shot. The lions habitat has no bars, just rock walls and a moat.

Tom,
I'm a bit puzzled about some things. So I did a workshop.
Nevertheless picture is fascinating. The lion has a great head and sad eyes..and you captured that well.

saw this earlier before lunch but got distracted..although a captive beast it still retains some character which you have captured.
normally on animal, and human portraits i go for a little workshop to emphasise the eye..this is impossible to improve and i am glad to look at it ..
cheers

Hi Tom

He has a lovely face. His eye look a little sad, but maybe that is because he is sleepy. Nice close shot. Thanks.

He does look a little worse for wear. very real! I'll have to look for him next year!

Thoughtful cat! Beautiful portrait of a beautiful animal. Fortunately, there are more of those than of the poor tigers. I saw lots and lots of wild lions in Tanzania last year.

Hi,
Bravo zulu; its exceptionally high quality picture of an aging “Lion King”. I wish this was clicked in a jungle/safari than a zoo imprisonment. The face depicts sorrow & a dying wish for freedom !

A nicely composed portrait of this rather dejected and sad looking lion. The colours and tones and beautifully rendered, rich yet subtle, and are a good contrast against the dark grey background.
