[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last Sunday was a great day for ducks and crazy trekkers braving the miserable weather, but it was also a great day for watching wildlife, and freezing in rain and sleet, with a late afternoon hailstorm for good measure. I juggled the pov to exclude picnic benches, but this is the Waterton campground (now closed for the season). The muledeer buck is sitting there like a king watching the tournament going on amongst younger bucks. My son alerted me to deer in the area - I stopped the car after we realized that there are a great number of bucks like schoolkids congregating for a fight. Here is my sons deer playing hide and seek (on TrekLens), whereas my wife Christan got right in the middle of the action with these fighters here and here.

In they struggle is they glory, oh Mystic one! It wa well worth the trip, simply stunning, doesnt get much more in nature than this, all essential elements incorporated: green forests, rusty trees, magnificent mountains and great mammal!

What a wonderful autumn mood in this mountain area, and the mule deer facing you in a truly iconic pose of well content male dominance. I like the subtle naturalistic colours, and the skillful composition. You and your family must have had a very good time at this place, and you have been able to produce a very pretty document of intact wilderness from a place that is well inviting and comfortable to visit. Wonderful combined landscape and critter capture..I like most the low POV, and the centered placement of your subject works well here. Natural colors, well exposed and nice details. I really enjoyed your photo additions as well Otto. Great post!
