[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Much of Ohio is flat farmland used for the production of corn and soybeans. Eastern Ohio, however, has more interesting terrain marked by sandstone gorges and cliffs. This formation is known as Ash Cave, so named for centuries of campfire remains left by generations of native Americans.
Since this is sandstone, the "caves" are simply overhanging ledges that provide some shelter from the elements. In this case, it's a fairly large overhang - the horseshoe shaped cave is 700 feet long, 100 feet deep and 90 feet high. The edge of the horseshoe can be seen in the upper left corner of the shot.
The waterfall is normally active only in spring, but recent rains have provided substantial flow. In cold winters, an ice column may form. Taken with monopod.

Lovely lighting, colours and a breathtaking place.
Definately you where skillful with that 1/8 without tripod (although used a monopod), and you were in the right moment in the right place.
Congratulations, Greg.

Lovely natural scene. I like the light through the trees. Nice composition and colours

Lovely

Looks like a great scene here Greg. A tripod would have really helped here.

Hi Greg,
I have to agree with Tim on the use of the tripod. WIth such low lighting conditions any small movement of the hand is a large movement in the photo. Beside that, the view is spectacular and the colors are stunning.

Nice clear and sharp. Like the composition very much! This is a lovely shot, nice detail and beautiful colours and light.

Hi Greg,
Illinois is much like Ohio terrain wise. You really have to work extra hard to find these gems. Your choice of composition and framing are perfect here. Great job on the exposure to get so much detail in the shadows. The fall colors add alot to the shot. Nice one!

Hi Greg,
You have some nice shots in your gallery.
I like this waterfall and the slow shutter
gives the water that milky effect to show
the movement.
Like the composition and the colour.
Well done,
BEN
