[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the female from the pride of lions which included the male I have previously posted. The females and young were lying around in a group (you can see the back of one young behind the female).

There were about 7 or 8 animals in the group including some adolescent males but there was only one adult male who was sat off to one side alone and about 30 yards from the main group.

We were able to approach the group to within about 10 yards and at one point were accidenally between the male and the females because we could not see him lying in the grass. Neither the male or the group seemed bothered by our presence and we spent a few minutes taking photographs before we quietly withdrew and let them get on with life.

This photograph was hand held at 400mm Image Stabiliser on setting II and was taken leaning out of the window of a 4x4 we were using for tracking and monitoring the populations.

Regards - Phil.

Hi Phil,
Again another lovely image of the wildlife of Kenya.Well done in catching such a decisive moment.Shows that life is harder for the females than the males.Good detail and clarity with true and natural colours. The DOF making the subject stand out well.See you again.

Great moment captured. Excellent details, perfect color. Perhaps a bit too much sharpening on the fur.

Hi Phil
Great capture and composition under the hand held conditions, the relax moment is very interesting..
Full of fine details and I liked the light condition that no made hard shadows...

Hi Phil
Love the composition & colour specially the contrasting pink against the base brown. The flies are nice value additions. fabulous.

Hi Phil,
Amazing and unusual sharpness. Probably due to amount of pixels Ds.
And a great lens.
Nice capture. I think the right combination
5,6 and 250....
Great
