What a fantastic follow up from yesterdays shot, the POV is just superb showing us the head and eyes, the detail is just superb with all the little hairs all over its body, I like the row of hairs around the eyes are these bug eye-lashes, the colours are suberb.

Hello Gert,
I like these microlandscapes on the surface of insects. The fine structures are even more diverse than the overall appearance of whole insects. Some years ago I had the opportunity to study surface structures of butterflies, caterpillars and eggs by scanning electron microsocopy. That's really fascinating and overwhelming. You demonstrate what today can be achieved with photography. An admirable result.

Hi Gert,
Splendid macro, with excellent detail and beautiful colour balance. I notice there is that 'star' effect on the eye nearest the camera. I have no idea if this is an effect caused by optics or the compound eye itself.
Whatever the reason, it gives more impact to the eyes[in my opinion] which is what one sees first in a photograph.

This time you show us a very good macro with excellent sharpness and details. Good light and bright but not really overexposed, curious silver colours on the fly.

You open up a new world by showing us such a close-up macro, not just details of surfaces that unfamiliar, but an insight of what can be achieved using equipment that need not be unavailable for most of us.
Now it is not just species identity, but structures and functions, another dimension!
