For a change, I am posting today a landscape I took more than ten years ago with my old Yashica SLR. Needless to say, it is a scan from an old photograph.

I walked the Sangla Valley in Himachal Pradesh, India, in the summer of 1996 with a group of my students. The landscape shows the mountain range that marks the boundary with Tibet -- now part of China.
The river that flows through the valley is called the Baspa.
At the end of the valley lies the last human settlement in this area at an altitude of about 3000 M. It goes by the name of Chitkool. We walked to this place from our base at Sangla -- a lovely little township that lends the general name to this valley.
The valley is part of district Kinnaur inhabited by tribal people who share their language and customs with Tibet rather than with India.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Ram
What a beautiful view and what a piecefull landscape. I like the way the river takes me into the photo toward the huge snow covered mountians. I am curious if there is still so much snow to see on these mountains with the current rising of the temperature.

Hi Ram,
Lots of insects but no such scenes on our tiny island. Impressive view with the mountain slopes leading the eye to the centre of the scene and the brook filling the foreground.
Well captured and TFS

I have enjoyed sharing your walks in these amazing mountains...visiting places I will never see in person. One would feel small indeed living in that narrow valley below. I like your point of view here. It isn't so bad considering it is a scan of an old photo.

Very beautiful shot,liked the composition,&POV.

Hello Ram,
A view that gives a little vertigo; I like how you have caught it. A landscape totally different from which I am accustomed: a totally flat plain, almost without appreciable great unevennesses.
Good photo!
