This is a reminder and messenger of the last summer:
-- Thymelicus lineola
-- family: Hesperiidae
visiting lavender flowers in the 'brightest' sunshine.
The picture focuses on the frontal parts of the butterfly. It clearly shows an antenna with a black tip by which lineola is distinguished from the related species Thymelicus sylvestris which has an orange brown tip.
T. lineola likes the open land and is a busy visitor of flowers. Flight period in Germany is from June to August in one generation. The caterpillars feed on several grass species.
General distribution of T. lineola: North Africa, Europe and Asia, eastwards to the Amur-region.

Great detail of frontal parts. Nice POV. Excellent DOF.

Hi Peter,
a nice close-up of this Skipper wiht good details.
The DOF is very good too, entire insect within focus and the BG nicely OOF, (I think the Olympus with the 2.0 FOV crop is very good for macros),
Nice colours and good POV.
Well done.

Hello Peter,
You have given lineola an excellent blurred and dark contrasting BG and the unusual POV make this shot even more interesting, especially as nearly all of the skipper is sharp when it is so close up.
TFS, best wishes, Ivan
