[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Early morning in Yosemite. This shot was taken from Valley View alongside the Merced River looking up at the first rays of light on El Capitan.

El Capitan is a magnificent piece of granite in the Yosemite Valley. It is one of the premier rock climbing surfaces in the world where an average climb can take 7-10 days to complete. It it located in the middle of the north side of the Yosemite Valley and rises about 900 meters above the valley floor and is about 1,600 meters wide. The Yosemite Valley was first visited by white men in 1851 and was the primary subject of many works by Ansel Adams, including his most famous work "Yosemite in the Range of Light." An early national park in the U.S., Yosemite boasts several landmarks that could qualify as national monuments in their own right, including Yosemite Falls, which is the tallest waterfall in the Americas and one of the tallest in the world. If you enjoy nature and magnificent scenery and are in the states or visiting, by all means try and schedule a visit to Yosemite. More than 4 million people a year visit. The best time to see Yosemite in my opinion is either mid-winter, hopefully with lots of snow, or in late spring when the snow runoff has the waterfalls (and there are a lot of them) flowing at maximum.

Hi Kevin, it's a nice shot - perhaps a tighter crop to remove some of thee balck areas. I wish there was more of a note - I have no idea about Yosemite and I have no idea what El Capitan is. nice photo.
