[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This bull moose is just starting his new set of antlers which are shed each winter. The growing antlers are fed by blood streams in the antler coating called velvet. The moose got his name from the native Algonquin word "moz" which means twig eater. This is what makes up the bulk of his winter diet. Moose can be 1.9-2.2m at the shoulder and weigh between 227-535 kg. Moose are quite often bothered by ticks and one is visible on his neck just below his nose. This picture was taken near Reesor Lake in Cypress Hills Provincial Park.

Hi Rick. Itis good to learn about this beast through your lens and notes. Good close cropping so we get the feeling of his strength and size. Murray.

This moose has someone chew of a chunk of ear! And no , I don't think this bull is used to cameras... He looks too disturbed!

Haha. How close were you to the moose? It looks like you were right there by it.
I think I would be afraid if I came across something like this in the woods since I just pass 5'4'. It really gives an autumn/winter feeling. Thanks for sharing :)

I seem to have missed this one Rick. That is really up close and personal. Sharpness and detail are great. Color looks very natural.
