The background is peaceful and the bird comes out of it beautifully, but the straws disturb the setting.
Try to avoid letting anything between your lens and the face of the bird you are photographing. I understand that moving to the left would have brought the bird in difficult light. Most times the best way is to sit in one place and wait for the birds come close to you, instead of chasing those around. Patience is the key.
The bird is looking at the correct direction, ie. towards the center area of the picture, but it is slightly too much cornered. Put the bird in the corner only if there is something interesting in the direction where its beak is pointing.
