Cormorants resting on a cable over a river at Moshava HefziBa in central Israel. They seem to possibly be a family.
These are members of a flock of some 9000 individuals that reside here during the winter months every year.It is quite amazing to see that on a small stretch of river that runs within the communal village there are so many birds.
A local guide informed us that the flock arrived there some 15 years ago.It seems they were driven out of their original resting place - Iraq - as a result of the Gulf War and burning oil fields.
We (shirgold and I) made two visits to see the phenomenon and on this day the light conditions weren't the greatest.I have added a workshop showing a larger group resting on the trees (the better day) to give a feeling of what we experienced. |

Hi Jeanpaul, superb portrait of this family, lovely composition, very well done, have a nice week end, ciao Silvio
Hello David,
Even if they are on a wire (something that I do from time to time too ;) I like this picture because of the good details that you caught on those three birds which is not that easy to do. I liked this picture in the WS too. Well seen and thanks,
Claudine
Hello Dave,
Good result - you managed very well with the details!
Excellent sharpness and I liked the way you used the cable in the crop.
The birds look a bit too serious but I guess you had nothing to do with that - actually it is surprising considering you were covered at that point with some bird shit!
Cheers - Shir
