Another stag shot from Richmond. I wanted to take a head shot but still wanted to keep the full antlers in shot. I tried to use the blurry trees to frame the face

I chose a title of contemplation for this thoughtful stag. The words 'meditation' and 'contemplation' are often confused. Contemplation is not meditation.

Contemplation is an act of thought, whereas meditation occurs when thought ceases and the division between you and all else fades. With contemplation rather than gloss over a matter, you commit time to deliberately think it through thoroughly and completely.

What a magnificent animal Karan. Well captured, and showing the body does help balance those large antlers. I like how the shadows from the sun falling on him show up his features and fur too. Wwell done,
Janice

Hi Karen,
I really like how you have composed and framed this shot. Those big antlers needed plenty of room. The OOF trees do make a nice frame for his face. Detail is excellent. I thought the colors were acurate, but somewhat muted, so I did a workshop to see if I could help bring them out. A really great shot!

Hi Karan

After thorough and deliberate contemplation I came to the conclusion that this is a lovely shot of the thoughtful stag.

I like your composition, POV, and cropping with the trees you used on the left side as a framing prop. The colours are very natural, the details are sharp and well defined, the evenly coloured grey BG is complimenting your subject very well, and you made good use of the available light. Nice little catch light in the eye.

Well done and TFS.

Loot

Hi karan,
What a maginificent photo. Such a great pose and it really looks like this guy is contemplating....darn I should have had this shot when I posted my contemplating photo some months ago. You really got close this time.
Sharpness are details are perfect, but watch out with the USM, some pixelation is visable. The low sunlight really brought out the beauty of this animal.
TFS,
Niek

Magnificent photo, magnificent specimen.

Amazing detail can be found on his coat and head, you must have gotten pretty close for this! Really like the composition and how he's looking to the side, great expression.

My fave from your deer photos.
