First Signs of Summer

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
So I deceided to play around a little with color and black and white. I'm happy with the outcome but I'd like to get your feedback. This shot was taken last summer near Torrey Peak and Grays Peak on an overcast and rather cool day.
Sorry for being away so long. I just spent a few weeks in Africa with my wife. We traveled around Tanzania, South Africa and Rwanda. Hoping to have some new photos up in the next few weeks (after I get through all 3000+ photos! :) ). I'm also hoping to find some time to review some more photos when I wake up from the jet lag. Talk to you all soon! |

I rather like the idea of desaturating the background and keeping the daiseys in colour. Having the daiseys moved over to the right (keeping with the rule of thirds) with more photo to the left might have been a bit better compositionally. Finally, the overall photo seems a bit on the dark side.
Even with my nits, I still love the image!
Hi Dan,
lovely shot.
well composition and nice light.
great sharpness and well focus on flower.
i like it so much.
thanks for sharing.
best wishes
Saeed
Hi dan,
Great to see a photo from you again. Reading you note, I am sure you had a wonderful time and I am also sure that we will enjoy it as well.....keep those photos comming. Don't forget to start a traveloque.
I agree with Tim all the way, the selective desaturation worked perfectly. The shallow DOF is well choosen.

Welcome back. I can see we are going to be treated to a virtual African safari in the near future. Yahoo! Only 3000 shot eh? That should keep you busy for a while.
This is an interesting shot Dan, and a fun idea. I too think it is a little dark so I took the liberty to "play" with it! I'd like tht foreground flower to have a little more "zing!" to it.
