[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In a shadow of another's glory

Mechanic (with disappointment): Schumacher, Schumacher. Always so. To one – dirty rags and motor oil, to another – champagne. Well, all right. Is better I'll attend the lecture #6 (see Schumacher)
____

Part VI.

Digression: Role of a wind at ultra close-up shooting

The role of a wind at wild ultra close-up shooting cannot be overestimated. It is the unique factor which elimination it is impossible. Even the slightest whiff of a breeze has catastrophic consequences for a macro photography (see heart of problems ##1, 2)

9. Multiple shooting as a solution of problems ##1, 2

The more attempts, the there are more chances to get a sharp photo

Conclusion #9:
Highly recommended
Note: See further the solutions of problem #4 (technique of auto and manual focusing at ultra close-up photography)

10. Macro flash with HSS mode as a solution of the problem #2
Note:
1. Use of short exposure time is meant
2. It is necessary to have a macro flash with HSS mode

Pro:
– reducing the negative consequences of camera trembling and mobility of a shooting object (as at a common photography)
Note: This solution is effective, if the shooting object be in focus

Con:
– discussed in special notes (see Wasp, DOF and BG: Summary)

Conclusion #10:
Recommended

11. Support of object of shooting (it is usual, plants) by free hand as a solution of the problem #2
Note:
1. It is meant, that the camera is fixed on a tripod
2. Where to take a free hand?
3. Where to take a hand, which does not shiver at all?

Conclusion #10:
Try. It sometimes turned out at me

12. Waiting as a solution of the problems #1, 2
Note:
1. To wait, when the moving object will come into the sharp displayed area. This solution presupposes a tuned prefocus
2. See two shots (Top secret task (Part I), Top secret task (The End)). Second shot was taken at full absence of a wind. First shot was taken next day at windy weather with use of given solution

Conclusion #12:
Recommended

13. Reducing exposure time as a solution of the problems #1, 2
Note: Taking into account higher priority of the solving of the problems ##1, 2 than solving of the problem #3, I am compelled to recognize as necessary, that the higher shutter speed the more probability of getting of sharp pictures. This is common tendency. See also solution #10

Conclusion #13:
Recommended as an element of a complex of solutions of the problems ##1, 2

Hi Alexei,

A well received series about the macrophotography,a pleasure to read and very informative,I like this shot the grasshopper contrasts very well against the red BG,well captured and TFS

Paul

Hi Alexei,
A vibrant contrast picture!
I like so much the POV you used to make this capture, got excellent details on the insect, very clear and sharp.
This is a really uncomon background for a grasshopper picture, it's very original.
It's so interesting your notes about ultra close up photography.
Congratulations for the post, thanks for share it and my best regards,
JM

Hi Alexei this is a colourfull shot the red paint contrasts well with the body of the insect Nicely composed with an interesting writeup TFS best rgds Necip.

The brown grasshopper stands out beautifully against the red BG, Alexei. Apparently, this is yet another nature shot with a car on the scene!
Now I have really started getting the best out of your interesting 'workshops' on various aspects of photography :-)! Thanks.
Best regards,
Ram

Hi Alex!
Please don't be angry with me but I realy don't like red base, It's so distracting and disturbing, looks very unnatural.I know you are experimenting but this color is too strong for me, the hopper is not standing out, he is overwhelmed by this red metal even though he looks great.

Alexei,
Excellent story Re: Ultra close-ups.
A grasshopper on the hood of a car; what a great idea.
The colour contrasts woke me up.
Loved this well presented composition with such excellent clarity.
Best regards,
Mario.

Hi Alexei

Another part of your miniature formula one team :))
Again here the note is the main element of the post. I know you have more beautiful or artistic macros, but this one here fits the overall discussion pretty well.
The details and colors are lovely and well saturated, the lighting is great and the side POV is excellent.
A very funny post, too :)

Cheers, my friend and TFS

bonjour alex
je n'ai pas lu toutes la note car la traduction n'est pas exacte mais je pense avoir compris que vous aviez beaucoup de vent pour ce cliché qui pourtant est assez reussi, avec une assez bonne netteté,c'est bien vu.

Hello Alexei,
another excellent lesson, your notes are very interesting and easy to read.
THis shot is very nice, looks like you brought nature into the house, planing to learn him how to read? ;-).
Great details on this and I love the strong color combined with the rear fading of the sharpnes.
Very nice composition.

However hard his job is, this mechanic loves it by the way he embraces the car. But a bit of champagne wouldn't be bad.
A perfect job and again a very interesting lesson.
Thank you very much, dear friend.

Hello Alexei,
I don't know if I well understand all this but is it the same car that the Mantis was on? ... Sorry, I have problem with my English these times I guess. If so, what's up with those insects and cars, this is amazing! I like the contrast between the grasshopper’s color and the red; this is very strong. Details, POV and composition are just great and so are these notes. Thanks for this nice moment :)
Claudine

Dear Alexei,
your lawn mover really got sexy curves.
No wonder those slender, big eyed, long legged models are hopping on it.
Thanks for continuing your essays on techniques of photography.
They are as well informing as they are well entertaining.
A very nice series.

Hi Alexei,
Clearly your photographic course is not for point and shot amateurs neither for thouse who love 1-2-3 step guide!:-)
Wonderful man-made background for this grasshoper of brilliant and pure colours which simplicity contrast with the complex patterns of this simple but natural live insect.

Hi Alexei,
Another beautiful capture from you.
Colors,details and background are spectacular.
Nice job.

Simpática escena en la que el saltamontes parece haber sufrido un atropello, quizá por parte de M. Schumacher(¿?).
Buenos colores y estupendos contrastes.
Saludos amigo, JL.

Hello Alexei,
This guy is well captured with great details!
The strong red is a real eye-catcher, and makes a good runway for the little chap...
Well composed image with good lines!
